Happy 2026! Here’s a look back…

Back then…

Absolute Comedy Toronto

Here it is, short and sweet, my first post of the new year. It was a pleasure to see so many of you at the markets over the holiday season, and to everyone, Happy New Year!

Highs And Lows And Lofty Goals

After a decade-long break, I’ve started writing new material for the stage. No timeline. No formal plans. Just vibes and a notebook. The truth is, I miss stand-up. Getting back out there will take a minute — I write at a glacial pace — but if all goes well, I’ll have plenty of highs, lows, and questionable life choices to talk about in 2026.

Wordy Art Cards

It was a big year for Wordy Art. In 2025, The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria began stocking a selection of my Wordy Art cards in their gift shop for the first time. Wordy Art was also picked up by the Market Collective stores, Paper Chain at Matticks Farm, and BISOUS BISOUS in the Bay Centre.

I was thrilled to participate in the Art Gallery Paint-In for the second time!

“One of the largest art festivals of its kind in Canada, this event features artists, activities, music, food and fun.  This beloved festival draws 50,000+ visitors annually to explore art along Moss Street and brings Vancouver Island artists together in celebration of art!”

The organizers and volunteers were wonderful, and I was greeted by lots of familiar faces — plus plenty of new ones. If you can believe it, the whole thing was even busier and more fun than the year before, which I had assumed was a statistical impossibility. The Art Gallery Paint-In gave me the chance to connect with thousands of people, share what I do, and — most importantly — make them laugh, which is still my favourite metric of success.

As a direct result of being at the Paint-In, I was offered a spot at the Metchosin Arts & Cultural Centre. My work went up for the first time in the summer of 2025, and it has been up in one form or another ever since. The exhibit scales up and down and moves around a bit, but I guess you could say I’ve been unofficially “adopted” by MACCA - a place I feel very at home.

Beached Side - The Pitch!

In 2025, I was VERY busy co-developing an animation project with creative partner, Michael Hefferon, the CCO of Mainframe Studios. Together, we co-founded Pop Weasel Studios Ltd. Under that banner, we created a pitch and comic for an animated series called Beached Side (Operation: Tourist Trap). Developing Beached Side pushed my creativity to entirely new levels and doubled as a crash course in storytelling, business, and how many decisions it actually takes to bring a series to life.

The industry's verdict?

Feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive.

We have a winner, and we know it!

Throughout 2026, we’ll continue with further development, aiming to bring our series into production. In the meantime, you can visit Beached Side whenever you need a getaway of your own. Say hi to the Misfits of Mayhem, while you’re there, and do us all a favour and steer clear of Mrs. Buttinski - she’s in a mood.

Happy New Year!
